Over in Northern Ireland...

We've four new news items from yesterday and today.
We've got TAG rugby starting.
We're going to get a lot of cricket news out of this school. They're famous for it. Here we find out they won the League and Cup for the second year in a row.
Today, we find out they've only just had their white boards fitted. Are they all so late in Northern Ireland?
And this is funny, they had a visit from a bird of prey dude, and there's one picture where one of the teachers just doesn't like the bird being on her arm, or at least looks that way. Check it, bottom right.
This is another school, I've got great hopes for. They're in the middle of nowhere, according to the map. But the Head's getting his head around the blogging stuff, and wants to really push it. Video, I'm told is next. Carwyn, what about Alma matter?

Moorside: love and 100 years

Moorside's having a Valentine night, so says their PTA.
And they're going to be 100 years old this year! Fantastic. I bet they start a new news department for this.

All dressed up

And in from Rough Hay, another great (boy-oh-boy is the Deputy Head almost getting really good at this) pictorial post. And she'll be the first to admit that computers aren't her strong point—this being an understatement of the century!
So, I'm dead chuffed.
An excellent post about a visit from a theatre group, and a link!!! We love links here.

Pudsey's flying high

Our one secondary school's doing well. The special English class did their English 6 months eary and still had brilliant A*, A and B results. Every single one were B or above!
And I read on their site, which surely should be a blog item in itself, (so I can point more efficiently) that the parents near Pudsey want their children to go there!
The release of Parent 'preferences' for 2007-8 offered interesting reading recently.... Pudsey Grangefield is the number one choice for 321 families this year ... the highest number ever to put our school as their first choice. 91 of those decisions come from families who already have children with us - the remainder come from people who have chosen Grangefield as a result of their positive impressions of the school.
I'm still nagging the Deputy Head to get his children blogging, even if it's for fun, even if it's merely sports results! It's easy to email in a news item, then it's approved by an editor. But also, what about English classes blogging? There's plenty of evidence that this form of writing, in front of an audience sharpens the concentration.

Waterloo fire hosing again

So many new updates from Waterloo! And not only that but a new way to collect Alma matter! There've been a few past students wanting to join in the fun already, and they've done nothing to promote it on the site. Some past students have found it through Google.
Once there's a few in there, Sue, their ICT will call the local newspapers and get a little item in. Then, I'd expect the flood gates to open. I'm so looking forward to this. The site's good, is updated very frequently, by several members of staff. I'm hoping that these past students will begin to post comments; these will spur more parents, more current pupils...
It is my intention, with these sites, that they become more than a school website, something akin to a community website. Past pupils are a small part of the community—even if they're on another continent.
I'm still keen on the adverts too. (Despite the moral dilemma.)
So what's been coming out of Waterloo's site? Catching up with yesterday's posts:

- Self portraits in the style of Da Vinci, Monet, Rembrant, Raphael, Van Gogh.
- 3D robots! Lovely and colourful, with class 1.
- And again a stonker of a photojournalism post! More 3D robots. Whay can't every school post stuff like this? Everyday! What a beauty. And so easy (email too blog thingy).
